Clean Energy Partnership continues its successful work: New board strengthens expert committee for hydrogen mobility

Berlin, 12/01/2025 |

The Clean Energy Partnership (CEP) expert committee is ensuring the continuity of its successful work with a newly elected Board of Directors. With Florian Brandau, Ignacio Garcia-Lorenzana and Frank Fronzke, the board will in future combine the expertise from infrastructure development and the ramp-up of hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles and passenger cars to an even greater extent. As an established registered association, the CEP is thus strengthening its commitment to hydrogen mobility in Germany and Europe – with a clear focus on the development and implementation of international standards and framework conditions.

Since its transformation into an industry-supported partnership in 2017, the CEP, which was founded in 2002, has been working on international norms and standards for hydrogen mobility along the entire value chain in an independent and technology-neutral manner. It remains a central voice in Germany and Europe.
The new CEP Board now consists of Florian Brandau (CEP) and the newly elected members Frank Fronzke (H2 MOBILITY Germany) and Ignacio Garcia-Lorenzana (Hyundai Motor Europe). The CEP would like to thank the outgoing board members Elena Hof, Paul Karzel and Jörg Starr for their outstanding work and many years of commitment.

With Frank Fronzke and Ignacio García-Lorenzana, the perspectives of infrastructure operation and vehicle manufacturer will be even more closely linked on the Board of Directors: from the operation of Europe’s largest hydrogen filling station network and the experience of a leading supplier of fuel cell vehicles in the heavy-duty and passenger car segment. This will further strengthen the CEP’s position as a leading expert body for hydrogen mobility.

The CEP continues to work on refueling standards, accompanies technological advances and supports the planning and implementation of a nationwide filling station infrastructure. As a competent partner in standardization committees, the CEP drives innovation and remains true to its vision of promoting a sustainable transformation of the mobility sector.

On June 23, 2025 and July 10, 2025, two events of the transformation hub cH2ance will focus on hydrogen mobility. The cH2ance webinar on June 23, 2025, 14:30-16:00 is dedicated to the topic of “Fleet operation in the context of economic efficiency and regulation”.On July 10, 2025, cH2ance invites you to the 5th innovation round from 09:00 to 14:30 in Münster to experience the potential of hydrogen mobility live.
The Federal Ministry of Finance's current draft budget increases the chances of promoting alternative drive systems - especially hydrogen - to a greater extent. This is crucial in order to make technologies competitive and achieve climate targets.
