BBS and CEP sign cooperation agreement to improve the qualification of skilled workers

Berlin, 5/19/2025 | In the course of the energy transition, hydrogen is becoming increasingly important as an energy source. With the expansion of the hydrogen infrastructure, the need for specialized experts is also increasing. Against this backdrop, the Bundesverband Behälterschutz / Gütegemeinschaft Tankschutz und Tanktechnik e.V. (BBS) and the expert committee for hydrogen mobility Clean Energy Partnership e.V. (CEP) have concluded a cooperation agreement. The aim is to strengthen safety and efficiency in the use of hydrogen technologies through targeted training and further education measures.

The agreement signed on May 19, 2025 comprises three main objectives:

  1. Bundling expertise in communication
  2. Development of a training document “Hydrogen refueling systems” in the format of DGUV Aktuell
  3. Promoting the exchange of knowledge and information on laws, standards and regulations

Thomas Uber, Managing Director of BBS e.V., explains: “With this partnership, we are responding to the growing demands in the field of hydrogen mobility. Our aim is to optimally prepare specialists for the challenges of the future and thus create the basis for a safe and efficient hydrogen infrastructure.”

The cooperation is not limited in time and is evaluated annually. Both partners bear their own costs, which underlines the independence of the cooperation.

Current contributions

Berlin, 06.05.2025 | The Clean Energy Partnership (CEP) has reached another important milestone: As a pioneer for hydrogen mobility, the CEP has continuously driven forward the standardization of acceptance protocols for hydrogen refuelling stations and has now successfully handed over the associated acceptance process for refuelling station tests outside Germany into the hands of independent testing institutions. This step marks significant progress for the scaling of the hydrogen filling station infrastructure in Europe.
